PROJECT OVERVIEW

 

Early in 2020, Visit Philly was awarded funding to produce a video series featuring the region’s craft beer scene. Philadelphia has always played a crucial role in American brewing. Locals like to say their taverns are arguably the true birthplace of the American Revolution. With the funding deadline quickly approaching, Visit Philly needed to find a way to make Greater Philadelphia’s regional home of craft beer – over 90 breweries with more than 110 locations and over 1,000 beers just waiting to be sipped – the star of video content that could be shared across a variety of media platforms. And do it fast.

CREATIVE STRATEGY

 

New Pace Productions accepted the challenge and partnered with Visit Philly to shoot and produce The Craft Beer Trail of Greater Philadelphia, a multi-episode video series that explores the region’s diverse breweries and brewpubs. We chose local celebs and craft beer buffs as hosts for the first season: Marisa Magnatta, a producer for WMMR’s The Preston and Steve Show, and Chill Moody, an indie rapper known as a Philadelphia Music Ambassador. New Pace Productions filmed Marisa and Chill introducing viewers to top breweries and other charming locations in five counties. The excursions include beer tastings, checking out local arts, and discovering the rich history of the brewing scene in each county. Marisa and Chill also find out why these brewers chose Philadelphia as their headquarters.

RESULTS

 

The first five-episode season of The Craft Beer Trail of Greater Philadelphia launched Tuesday, September 29, 2020 on visitphilly.com. The three- to five-minute episodes are distilled from hours and hours of footage shot over six days at 15 locations on the Craft Beer Trail. New Pace Productions delivered season one in Under eight weeks, from start to finish. The Season 1 launch delivered 8,922 outbound brewery clicks across channels and a celebrated number of high-interest users for Visit Philly, all under budget! The video series was so well-received, New Pace has already shot and delivered episodes for season two. We’ll drink to that!
